The County Board Chair, with the advice and consent of the County Board makes appointments to the governmental bodies listed below.
The closing date for accepting applications is the Friday before the first
Committee of the Whole meeting of the month the appointment is to take place.
The County Board Chair reserves the right to change the application deadline, if
deemed necessary.

RESOLUTION NO. 3438
A Non-Binding
Resolution for the Determination of Political Affiliation
WHEREAS, the Chair of the Board of the County of
Champaign must make certain appointments to boards, committees and commissions
with regard to political affiliation of the person seeking such appointment;
and
WHEREAS, the
laws of the State of Illinois do not provide adequate guidance to determine the
political affiliation of such applicants.
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED that the County Board suggests that the Chair of the Board use
the following definition and criteria for determining the political affiliation
of such applicants:
Whenever the
Chair of the Champaign County Board is required to make an appointment where a
political affiliation of the applicant is a requirement of such office, the
Chair shall determine the political affiliation of such applicant by examining
the appointee’s voting records and satisfaction of two (2) of the five (5)
following criteria:
- A letter of reference from any elected official of the
prospective appointee’s party (for example: precinct committeeman, State
Senator)
- Partisan office held by prospective appointee (for example: election judge, precinct committeeman)
- Monetary or in-kind
contribution made by appointee to the prospective appointee’s party or
candidate of that party in the previous eighteen (18) months but not within six
(6) months prior to appointment.
- Attendance at
partisan meeting of prospective appointee’s party in previous twelve (12)
months.
- Active volunteer for
partisan candidate or prospective appointee’s party in the previous two (2)
years.
