SUMMARY
Performs general receptionist duties and types a variety of correspondence for a department or a facility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
May respond to inquiries from clients and public.
May assess needs of clients and refer them to appropriate services available throughout the community.
Answers the telephone and transfers calls to the appropriate individuals, divisions or department.
May take telephone messages for the staff.
May greet visitors to the facility, answer questions and direct them to the appropriate individual.
May type a variety of forms and letters.
May receive and distribute mail.
May take count of visitors.
May compile statistical data.
May organize and maintain office files.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with courses in general office procedure; or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Good oral communications and experience with phone systems.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to the general public and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
