Nursing Home Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for considering Champaign County Nursing Home.

One-to-one visits are high on our list of needs to improve the quality-of-life of our residents. You can be a good neighbor by chatting, reading, walking, and becoming a friend. You can visit only one resident or several, as your time permits. Your volunteer time can be at your convenience. There are other options listed below.

Activity Department

Volunteers are needed to help our activity staff with various organized programs such as assisting with bingo, arts and crafts, special events, manicures, physical activities etc., transporting residents to and from programs, providing spiritual and musical programs, etc. Volunteers are also needed for pet visits.

Adult Day Care

Volunteers are needed to assist staff with organized recreational activities. Church groups, schools, and other groups or individuals are welcome to come perform and visit with our clients.

Dietary Department

Volunteers are needed to assist staff in the dining room for morning and noon meals. Tasks include taking orders from residents, serving, catering, cleaning up in the dining room, etc.

Environmental Services Department

Volunteers are needed during weekdays and weekends to assist our housekeepers with cleaning our facility. Help is needed in pulling trash, high dusting, damp wiping, bath room cleaning, dust moping, damp moping, scrubbing walls and washing windows.
Volunteers are needed for grounds maintenance, pick up trash, raking and maintaining our gardens and landscape.

Laundry Department

Volunteers are needed to wash, dry, fold and sort resident clothing, sheets, and towels. Morning hours only.

Nursing Department

A volunteer is needed to assist Medical Records staff with duties which include assembling admission and readmission packets and filing. Monday through Friday day hours only.
