Residents of Champaign County may need to contact County Government for many reasons. This page attempts to help local residents find answers to their questions.

Q. What is the fee for a rabies vaccination registration tag and how do I obtain more information?

A. The fee schedule for rabies vaccination registration tags can be found in Section 27 of the Champaign County Animal Control Ordinance.  Click here to view/print a copy of the Ordinance or call Animal Control at (217) 384-3798 for more information.

Q. Do cats as well as dogs have to be vaccinated for rabies and registered with the County?

A. Yes.

Q. Where are Justice related offices located?

A. The Offices of the Circuit Clerk, State's Attorney, Public Defender, and Probation and Court Services as well as all courtrooms and Judges' offices are located in the Courthouse, 101 E. Main St, Urbana, IL.  This is a secure facility and all visitors must pass through a metal detector and have their bags x-rayed upon entering the facility.  The Sheriff's Office is located across the street from the Courthouse at 204 E. Main St., Urbana, IL.  The County has two jails - the downtown jail is attached to the Sheriff's Office at 204 E. Main St., Urbana, IL and the satellite jail is located on the East Campus at 502 S. Lierman Ave., Urbana, IL.  The Juvenile Detention Center is located at 400 S. Art Bartell Rd., Urbana, IL.   Follow this link for map & directions to the facilities.

Q. How do I find the Courthouse and Sheriff's Office?

A. Both the Courthouse and Sheriff's Office are located in Downtown Urbana.  To get here take Interstate 57 to Interstate 74 East.  Take Interstate 74 East to the Cunningham Avenue Exit.  Take Cunningham Avenue south to University Avenue where it changes to Vine Street.  Continue south on Vine Street to Main Street.  Turn west on Main Street and the Courthouse and Sheriff's Office will be before you.  Follow this link for map & directions to the facilities.

 
Q. What parking is available at the Courthouse?

A. The County maintains a lot for visitors that is located immediately east of the Courthouse.  The rate is $0.25 per hour for the first hour and $0.50 per hour after that.  The City of Urbana also maintains a parking garage on the corner of Main and Broadway, west of the Courthouse.  Limited street parking is also available around Courthouse Square.

Q. Where are other County Offices located?

A. Administrative Offices, County Board, County Clerk, County Treasurer, County Recorder of Deeds, County Coroner, County Auditor, Board of Review, County Assessment Office, Planning & Zoning Department, State's Attorney Civil Division & Support Enforcement Division, Regional Planning Commission, the Champaign County Employees' Credit Union and the Highway Department are all located on the East Campus at the Brookens Administrative Center, 1776 E. Washington, Urbana, IL.  Also located on the East Campus are the Animal Services Facility (210 S. Art Bartell Dr.) the Children's Advocacy Center (1601 E. Main St.), the Champaign County Nursing Home  (1701 E. Main St.), the Juvenile Detention Center (400 S. Art Bartell Dr.), the Champaign County Sheriff's Office Satellite Jail Facility (502 S. Q. How do I get to the East Campus offices?

A. The East Campus is the area generally known as the County Farm.  It encompasses the majority of the area between Main St. and Washington St. east of Lierman Ave.  and can be found by traveling approximately one mile east of downtown Urbana on either Main St. or Washington St.  All the east campus facilities have free public parking.
