1/23/2013 - Illinois Sheriff's Association Scholarships available

The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association announces that it will be awarding over $53,000 in college scholarships throughout the State of Illinois to students wishing to pursue higher education during the 2013-2014 academic year. The scholarships are to be applied to tuition, books and fees only. The student must be enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher learning within the State of Illinois. Champaign County Sheriff Dan Walsh will be awarding one scholarship in the amount of $500.00. There will be no restriction on any applicant by reason of race, age, creed, color, sex or national origin. The only limitations are as follows:

  • Applicants must be a permanent Illinois resident
  • Scholarships must be utilized at institutes of higher learning within the State of Illinois
  • Students must be enrolled as a full time student during the 2013-2014 school year (excluding summer session)

Applications are now available at the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, 204 E. Main Street, Urbana, IL or on the Internet at www.ilsheriff.org. Students must complete the application; answer the essay question and return all documentation to the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office by March 15, 2013 (must be postmarked by this date). 10/13/2012 - Reaching Out for Answers, Disability Resource Expo

Lieutenant Shane Cook assisted with the 6th annual “Reaching Out For Answers, Disability Resource Expo” which was held at the Lincoln Square Village on Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. The 2012 “Reaching Out For Answers, Disability Resource Expo” continues to be recognized as a valuable community resource for families and individuals with disabilities. This Expo helped to address questions about where community members would go for support and services they, or a loved one, would utilize, so they can live the most independent life possible in Champaign County. Representatives from the Champaign County Emergency Management Agency, METCAD Champaign County 911, Urbana Police Department, Champaign Police Department, and the University of Illinois Police Department also assisted with the event.


6/19/2012 One Summer Day Grocery Cart Walk

We hope that you can be a part of our One Summer Day Grocery Cart Walk on June 30 by walking, financially supporting us or donating items. Even if you are in Florida or California, you can donate to One Summer Day online. This event will help 7 local organizations who help the homeless here in C-U. It's hard to believe we are ONLY 12 DAYS AWAY!
