As required by Illinois State Statute, taxes paid or postmarked after the due date must include interest at a rate of 1 1/2% per month. Interest is calculated by the month and not by the day. For the amount of interest on a late payment, look on the payment stub of your tax bill, the interest amount is figured for you.
