Estate TaxesThe Champaign County Collector mails over 73,000 real estate tax
bills and will collect over $274 million dollars this year. The money collected will
be distributed to over 125 taxing districts (schools, cities, etc.).
Real estate tax bills will be mailed April 29, 2011. The first installment will be due
June 1, 2011 (30 days after the bills are mailed) and the second installment will
be due on September 1, 2011. If you do not receive your tax bill, contact the Champaign
County Collector at 217-384-3743.
A single tax bill is sent for the full years’ taxes with both installment payment
coupons included. We do not send a second bill for the second installment. By law,
taxes are payable in two equal installments. Partial payments are not allowed by law.
Taxes can be paid in
many convenient ways.

In person at
the Champaign County Treasurer’s office at the Brookens Center,
1776 E. Washington, Urbana, Illinois using cash,
personal/business checks (except 30 days prior to the tax sale)
or most major credit cards. A flat 2.1% convenience fee is required on all credit card
transactions over $33. Transactions under $33 require a flat .65 cents convenience
fee. Champaign County receives no revenue from the convenience fee. We do not
accept 2 party checks as a form of payment.

payment. A United States Postal Service Postmark is accepted as
date of payment for the calculation of late fees.
